Did I tell you?

LOL… I love these little toons.  Crack me up EVERY morning!

Sis has made a new dress.

This one was NO help from me.  She wrapped the material around herself and pinned with safety pins to mark her sizing.  *I asked her how she got the size right, and that’s what she said. LOL*

anyway..

It looks way better on her then on a hanger…

its gathered on one side and really flowy, and drapes at the neck.  the cut makes me think greek goddess…

she used nearly sheer ribbons for the straps.  It fits her perfectly.  The only thing she did wrong was forget to sew inside out, so the seems are on the outside.  And believe me when I say she was PISSED when she realized what she’d done! LOL…

When I showed it to DH he said he was going to start pricing her a REAL sewing machine, because it seems in 2 weeks she has outgrown the toy.  So I need you guys’ input…  any ideas where to get a good one for cheap?  what is considered a good sewing machine?  brands to stay away from?  supplies for cheap? etc

Take a look..

Did you get any snow?

We did.  It started last night around 8.  My kids were ssoooooo excited.  We hadn’t had any snow so far this winter.  So they couldn’t take their eyes off! LOL

We ended up not getting too much.  But, it was enough to delay school an hour this morning, so the kids were happy.

Thank ya Bunny for the treat. Sis really IS getting GREAT! I would like to see more of the dress too! My mom and I both sew and we feel Singer sewing machines are the best. They are rugged and last years! I bought my cheap zig-zag stitch Singer in the spring of 1977 and it is STILL going.

WOW I’m soo impressed with Sis’s sewing!!
I do quite a bit of crafty sewing, I bought my Machine at Wal-Mart for like $99.00. Brother XL-5130. I’ve had about 5 years, no problems with it. It’s portable, so she can take it out, use it & put away. I bought a storgae Bag for mine – keep it dust free. You can also get a cute little sewing table at Wal-Mart for $99, has shelves, storage space etc. it has a side to pull expands for more room to cut and sew or drop back down. I know some Wal-Marts have already done away with their Craft departments  that saddens me. But anyway, material is also resonable there. Hobby Lobby is a good place, especially if you catch it on sale (we don’t have one here) and JoAnn’s Fabrics. They are decently priced too.
Good Luck with that venture, hope I’ve helped a little!!!
    Go Go Sis!!

    Bunny,

If Sis’ dress doesn’t fit real tight she can turn the dress inside out and sew the current seams inside another seam….it’s called a french seam… Why not take her to the library and look in the craft section and check out some books on sewing…. My grandmother taught me how to sew without patterns too. When I was little and she was sewing she would give me material scraps and I would figure out how to make them into clothes. I’ve been teaching my granddaughter too. Best of luck!!! BTW, I have a Singer now but Brother is a good brand too. Make sure to read the book and learn how to maintain your machine. I have my gg-grandmom’s treadle machine and my mom’s antique Singer…you have to keep them oiled or they don’t work right — my new one is 30+ years *LOL* and I have to oil it as well…

  12. tajicat says:

Wow she is doing great! I have always used Singer. I have my mom’s and grandma’s old machines and they still work, and they are from the 1920-40s. I buy most of my sewing supplies at JoAnn’s, and you can find a machine on sale there. I would get something sort of basic at first. Thanks so much for the beautiful freebie! :)

  13. jazzie says:
