Sorry such a late post today, I woke up with one hella sinus headache today!  Thank GOD its raining, and my headache is GONE!  Nothing like waking up with blood on your face, and a headache so bad you barf first thing!

Oh well, alls good NOW!!! weeeee….

CARD SWAP ANYONE?

I posted this at DSO and no-one has replied.  Maybe I’ll have better luck out here with you guys! lol…

anyone interested in doing a card swap in July? Keep in mind I’m REALLY new to paper/hybrid crafting so I’m sure mine will be pretty beginner…

BUT

I thought it would be fun to have 10 people sign up to swap cards in July.

how we’ll work it:

**create cards for the other swap members.
**mail them all to ME (all 10, that’s 11 minus yourself) by the 24th of July and I will make everyone a pack and mail them out on the 25th. so you’ll get one pack in the mail with a card from each of the swappers!

Cards can be

  • completely digitally made and then printed.
  • hybrid, made digitally printed and embellished
  • completely hand made!

your name and blog link or email addy must be put on the back of the card!!!   First 10 people to sign up here will make it into this swap!

anyone out there interested??

Weekend plans?

What are you planning for the weekend?  We were supposed to be sitting up the kids pool, and grilling out tomorrow.  It’s storming today though, so I doubt any of that will happen.  I don’t have any alternate plans for though, so I imagine I’ll be getting a lot of this in…

hahaha!

I’m ’bout a quarter way into Angels & Demons, and its finally getting my attention.  Are you reading it this month? (see right hand side for my book picks!)  Next month, I’m going to read Da Vinci Code again.  Then I reckon I’ll start those darn Twilight books the DSO gals won’t shut up about. LOL…

I do have 2 movies from netflix I need to get watched and mailed back.  I’m kind of disappointed.  I had the Bucket List next on my list, but they sent me number 5 instead. So I have Resurrecting the Champ (based on a true story!! YAY!)  & One Missed Call (gonna get my EEEEk on… yahoo!!!).

THANK YOU!

I did want to thank EVERYONE for such nice comments and emails!

Genealogy chatter

I am really surprised so many people posted they were into their family history/genealogy too!  You know, when I started researching our family they all thought I was crazy. LOL…  I was that kid in high school that slept thru history class, btw.  Bo-Ring.  After I had my son though, that all changed.

I have my Smith line *my dads maternal line* back to the early 1600’s.

The paternal line, Brown’s, I am definitely STUCK.  I have them back about 4 gens.  My dads gr-grandpa.  It seems that ole Ben Brown and family kept moving back and forth between Hopkins County Ky, and Murphysboro Tennessee.  In one census they are there, the next here, the next there.  I’m just back to where I cant go any further. LOL..  I cant find death records for old Ben, so I have no idea when or where he died, to get the death book, to find his parents.  I got so frustrated with the Browns, that I actually put it away for a while and haven’t touched it in nearly 2 years.

To answer a few emails on the gen stuff…
hmm…
maybe I should make genealogy stuff a regular posting…

Emmy & Donna, yes I keep all the information on the pc, but also have it printed.  I document EVERYTHING on the back listing out the date and WHERE I found the information.  Its tedious to do it right, but if I ever need to verify or go back, at least I’ll know where I got it.

The program I use is AMAZING!  I have tried just about all of them, and this one was the best fit for me!  It is EASY TO USE. lol…  You can add so many pictures and details, and the reports or flexible!  LOVE IT…   Its called Legacy Family Tree.  They are constantly doing upgrades, and EVERY upgrade gives you fantastic NEW tools!  I’ve used it since Version 3.  And way back then I was impressed with its easiness to use.  Now I’m more impressed with what all it can do, and its still AFFORDABLE!!!  I wouldn’t buy any of the add-ons, I bought the charting one a few years back, not so impressed.

YES, that’s a Barbie fishing pole!  It was only $10 at Hell-mart and even comes with this little thing you can tie on there instead of a hook, so they can practice casting.  Sis is SOOOO in love with her PINK fishin pole.  "Its so fashionable" *bat eyelashes*.  Yea, we’re in trouble when she’s older. LOL….

Ohh hunny. Nick’s cousin traced one side of their family all the way back to the Mayflower. They had an ancestor that was hanged as a witch during the Salem Witch Trials. OMG, lookin gover all this stuff he sent was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO interesting. My Dad’s cousin has been working on a family tree..I would love to see how far BettyJean’s gotten. She usually has it at the family reunion, but I haven’t been to one of those in about 4 years. Hmmm, wonder if she’s added my boys to it? Now I’m going to hafta call her to see! lol

Wow I am impressed with you book for your family history! I just have my stuff in files. I have one line that connects to the Mayflower and one line that I can trace back to about the late 1200s. I was never into it until the past 5 years, and now it is like being a detective! My middle son has actually tried looking for things online too. I think there is a gene that makes only certain people in the family line interested. It is too bad more people don’t get it. Most of my family, extended family too, could care less, but they all like when I send them things I find! It’s great that your daughter likes fishing too, I loved it when I was young. That’s a cute photo of your kids with their fishing poles! Thanks for sharing the freebie too! :)

Angels and Demons is a GREAT book! I loved t! I won’t spoil anything, but I will tell that the further in you go, the harder it is to put down!

You are much more ambitious with the family history than I am right now! The gift books I’m doing for Christmas go back to great grandparents, that’s the great-greats for the generation after mine the oldest of whom are in their teens. My research at this point is interviewing my older family member and getting the stories they remember. Perhaps after this project is done, I’ll research a bit deeper. You have an impressive collection of documentation!

I have read Angels and Demons and totally loved it, mind you I got a bit knackered running around the churches (in my head) nerve racking and exhausting lol! I haven’t read DaVinci code yet but intend it to be one of my holiday books this year.
Family tree, DH has done his side, it took years to do, Unfortunately i left mine a little to late to get off the starting blocks…. too many early deaths.
DH has the name Cade in his tree and someone who has done some research believes it to be possible that there is a member of the family that was hung drawn and quartered and his head left on parliament gates starting an uprising, good ole Will Shakespeare wrote about him too.

I’m impressed with your Smith line , that you have so much information on them. I have a Jones line that is VERY hard to trace, Jones being such a common name and the first names being common ones as well. I have met several cousins in my research of my family lines though, which has been great.

Very impressive on the genealogy work you have done. It is something that I have always wanted to work on, but never really known where to start at. The word art is awesome, thanks much for that! And I am VERY interested in the card swap. I was in middle of posting response on the forum when I got an error and can’t get back. Will keep trying.
