DSO AUG CARD SWAP

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

*phew*

I got my cards for this months swap done already!  See what happens when my internet goes out for the day? LOL…

My cards this month, were a true learning experience!  My first Stampings, I used my new watercolor pencils, a "Copic effect" with perm markers, distressing,  yea, basically…. the only thing I had done before was the cutting part, and the glue part. LOL…  I actually threw the first 2 I did away, I didn’t like em. LOL

a friend asked me if I would show her how I made them, so here’s a basic. how I did it.

Supplies I used:
stamps
ink
Derwett Watercolor Pencils
aqua pen
Sharpie Markers
Watercolor Paper (120 lb)
cardstock (paperbilities)
designer papers (generic)
glue
scissors
decorative scissors
bone folder
hole punch
ribbon
glitter

Stamp the image, trim.  Choose your colors from your watercolor pencils.  I chose really dark pink and red for the heart.  Sky blue, indigo, yellow, and orange for background and wings

load the aquapen, by squeezing it a little to wetten the tip, and rub it on the watercolor pencil tip.  Now, with watercolor pencils, there are a bunch of ways to get the watercolor look.  This is just the way I perfer to do it, because it seems to allow more control of the depth of the paint…

begin to fill in the stamp.  Be very careful to not over-saturate the black lines of the stamp.  I threw my first 2 cards out, because they bled pretty bad…

I did the lighter base first, then let it dry before going back in and adding the darker red for some depth.

continue painting until your done…

Since I was playing with technique, I "Copic"ed in my frame…
basically, I colored in with my midtone first, leaving some white areas, then hit with my lightest color for shading, and my darker color for depth…

Finally I picked a paper I thought would look nice with my image..

Lastly, just take your pieces and assemble.

I loved the doodley frame!  The one I used is a stamp from the Angel Company.

When I got finished with my card last night, it struck me how much I really liked the frame, so I fooled around and came up with some of my own…  so for you today…
