Late night, long week
Sunday, October 19th, 2008Man I stayed up too late last night. I could NOT sleep. It ended up being a good thing, though. My creativity seems to go on overload when I am sleepy.
Since I was wide awake, I took the opportunity to play with a kit from Alma Townsend. Alma is having a ct call for HYBRID people, so I shot her an email, and YAY ME! lol…
There was so much product to choose from, that I really couldn’t decide what to do first. Since I was wanting to make some tile coasters for my Daddy, I decided that which ever kit screamed Daddy to me would be the ONE.
Yep, you read that right. MAKE some tile coasters. This was not exactly the joyful experience I had invisioned in my head. LOL… After burning my hand with my new heat tool, because I am an idiot, and tossing the first 2 tiles in the can…
I finally got results I liked. LOL.
Here are my tiles, and accentuating card…
Now let see if I can get all the supplies in here…

Since I’m going to be real busy this week, and not have time to do anything but WORK, I thought I would just take the week and run through how I did this project.
I have gotten lots of compliments on that tag so I’ll start with that, today.
To make the tag you will need:
flower: Summer Skies by Alma Townsend
stamp: Dreams du jour, by Stampin’ Up!
inks for tag: Whisper White, Baja Braeeze, and Kiwi Kiss, by Stampin’ Up! Tea Stain, by Distress Ink
Embossing powder: by Distress (Ranger)
Heat Tool: Stampin’ Up!
Alcohol Solution and tool by Adarondack (Tim Holtz)
Ribbon
Tag
Distressing the tag is fairly easy.
First you need to emboss on your stamp. So for mine, I stamped Dreams du jour in Whisper White craft ink from SU!, then used some embossing powder from Distress (Tim Holtz). Heated with my Heat tool (SU!) until it was melted. Then I began the colorization of my tag by dipping my ink tool (Tim Holtz) onto my Kiwi Kiss (SU!) ink and smooshing it around on my tag. Repeated with Baja Breeze (SU!). Then added some Distress ink along the edges to age it a bit. Finally I tapped it off with a little white on my tool and smooshed around. Then added a drop (ONE DROP) of the alcohol blending solution from Adarondack (Tim Holtz) It reacted with the craft ink and gave it a really nice dropped smeary-fied effect. Then I died my ribbons by running them across my ink pads.
While that was drying, I printed this cute flower from Alma’s Summer Skies kit on Whisper White cardstock from SU!, and cut it out with my craft knife (memory makers).
I used SCOTCH popup foam squares to attach the flower cutout to my tag.
Come on back tomorrow, and we’ll assemble the card.
