a lil hybrid-y doo..

So, I posted on my Twitter (@bunnycates) the other day that I would LOVE to do some hybrid stuff with “someone’s” kit.  Thankfully,  Randi Oh answered my request ASAP, how awesome is that!

So today’s post is all about my first project as a “Guest CT” for her. Yippee!!

The first kit I chose to work with was her newest one, called “Breeze”.  It is a collab she did with Peta Boardman.

I loved all the elements and the papers are woohoo – GORGEOUS!  Anyway…

So I spent an hour or four designing this awesome card

and I want you to look at what happened the first time I printed it…

Yep, I was outta ink!  arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

talk about suckin’ chunks!  Man, I have not cussed that much in quite a while!  Did I HAVE any ink, NO!  So I had to order some.  And guess what, it came already!  NEXT DAY!  I can not believe it!  If you look over on the right you will see a link for INK4LESS, thats where I got it from.  And Fed-ex thru it on my porch this morning!  YIPPEE!

So here is the card  in all its glorious color!

For hybrid cards, I like to print the whole thing flattened, and then print some of the elements to add to it so its NOT so flat.  BUT I have the flattened version underneath any case any of the pieces fall off ect…

So print, print, trim…

Since I am not the best with the lil knife there, I inked over the white bits I had left on my elements with Stampin’ Up! ink in Baja Breeze and Old Olive.  And about halfway thru cutting out the frame that’s in the kit, I realized the scallops were about the same size as my Stampin’ Up! scallop punch!!!  Can anyone say TIME SAVER?!woohoo!!!

Then I traced the quote using Spica pens!  Get some here  and AFTER I had colored the butterfly with like 3 shades of blue and green, I remembered I had a CLEAR, shoot!  Oh well!  I like him colored in too! hehe!

and as you can see you get an awesome 3D effect but adding some elements after its printed…

I put pop dots under the frame, and made a little hingy lifty thingy with a scrap piece of jibbles to lift the butterfly!

and here is a close up of the Spica glitter.  Isn’t it pretty!?!!!!
