Its beginning to look a lot like…..

Come on!  Sing a long!  LOL.

You know what’s funny?  I’m always the first one to get rared up for the holidays.  I mean, I was skipping along and shouting “BOO” on Sept 1st!  So is it any surprise I’m already humming Christmas Tunes?  Im sick of Halloween already, bring on the Jingle Bells!   I mean REALLY!  LOL

Anyway, I was googling around yesterday, and found a site called OrganizedChristmas.com

*clouds parted and Angels began to sing*  hehehe!

Holiday happiness at my fingertips!  I was so inspired by the articles, that I decided to get my own ho-ho on.

There are quite a few articles on organizers, so I wanted one.  Here’s a kind of walk thru for mine.  I didn’t have any Christmas paper to work with, so I decided to sew mine.

For supplies:
Material - Patterned
Material - Solid
Bone Folder
File Folder
Needle
Thread
Accessories like Ribbon and a button

IMG_2511

Using a bone folder, score your file folder.  The way I did mine was open it up ALL THE WAY.  Lay it flat so its TALL.  How ever deep you want your pockets, is how far to the right you are going to score.  Fold on your score line and then rotate the folder so its WIDE not tall.  Then I scored each side from top to bottom, about halfway from the edge.

IMG_2510

You will end up with something like this.

IMG_2512

then I cut my  material.  For my inside piece I cut a piece 18 x 8 inches.  Then I laid that on my file and trimmed to fit the tabs.

IMG_2513

For my outside, the piece I cut was 20 x 18.  I did not “shape” this one by trimming it because I wanted enough left to flap over the edges and hem it.

IMG_2514

I pinned the material all in place, and then went to my sewing machine thinking this would be done in like 5 minutes.  UMM.  My machine did NOT like sewing this at ALL, and kept breaking the stupid thread!  It would go about a half an inch then WHAM!   lol.

I really wanted to give up, I mean really.  Hand sewing thru 4 layers of material and a file folder was NOT going to be fun.  But, my Christmas ho-ho was SCREAMING with mo-jo and I could NOT just let it go!

So I grabbed my needle and thread and went to work!  I started sewing just before House came on.  Sewed thru House.  Sewed through Fringe.  Sewed thru 2 shows about games on the sci-fi channel.  Sewed thru a crappy scary movie on Sci-fi channel about killer snake headed fish with teeth that could walk on land.  Uh…. oooooo-kkkkkaaaaayyyyyy…. LOL…

I FINALLY finished sewing around 1-ish I think!

IMG_2515 IMG_2516

I added some ribbon, held on with a big button to use as a TIE to keep it closed.

IMG_2518

Then I printed some cute little lists I found on OrganizedChristmas.com  and FINALLY got to use my Crop-a-Dile!  woohoo!

and the finished project….

Chicago here I was….

Tuesday, October 14th, 2008

Yep, went and back already. LOL…   I really enjoyed seeing my Daddy.  Of course those birthday gifties didnt hurt none either! LOL…

He did take me shopping, we went to a town called Naperville, IL.  Its like a Chicago suburb.  We went to Tigerdirect (computer parts store) and then Michaels and Joanns.  Joanns was PACKED.  They were having their big Columbus Day sale.  So after waiting in line to even WALK down the button isle, (they were 50% off)  I picked up a few odds and ends.  I also found some cute ribbon over in the Christmas decorations.  Kind of bummed I didnt make out like a bandit with stuff!  But… if I KNOW I’ll never use it, why buy it? KWIM?   Anyway, atleast I got a good start on my Christmas card supplies.

Before I left for Chicago, Bug wanted to try out some of my new Stampin’ Up! stuff.  So we made a card.  How cute is this?  Bug was “ticked”  I used GREEN ink on the card base but OH WELL.  LOL…

The stamp is from Stampin’ Up! Called “Pun Fun”.  How cute are these!

I colored him with a Blender Pen, and SU! inks: Pixie Pink and Basic Black.  All from Stampin’ Up!

You can order any of the SU! stuff from me online, just go to my SU! site.  www.bunnycates.stampinup.net

The paper was just some I had in my scrap paper box.  The ribbon was around some cards Lynn sent me. hehehe.

I got these two little shelves today at the Salvation Army store.  We swung by to drop some donations OFF and I cant seem to go there without buying some TOO!  So much for DE-cluttering. LOL…

This little rack was only $1  I still need to clean it off and decide where exactly it will go, but it was perfect size for some inks and things!

IMG_2451

This one was perfect for holding stamp sets!  I’m sure it will fill up quickly though.  My big order hasn’t arrived yet.  It’s supposed to come tomorrow!  COME ON UPS!  lol…

IMG_2452

While I was there, they were bringing in a big bunch of sewing stuff someone had dropped off.

I jokingly said “How much for all those”  The girl asked me how much would I give.  I was shocked.  They are willing to barter.  OH YEA!  So I said “well, I dont know, you tell ME how much”  So she said “well the manager will be back in a bit, I’ll ask her.”

Well we came home, (I had to get some meds for my back)  after I laid down the phone rang.  I got over 250 patterns for $20!!!!

patterns

I gave them my card, and told them to call me ANYTIME they got crafty stuff in, to call me!  I was excited, they were excited, and Bug about had a stroke when I walked back in with those patterns!  Plus I got a whole BAG of ribbon for $3!

Well, I just wanted to pop in.  Im laying here on the couch with the laptop.  My back is out, again.  That 9 hour drive KILLED me, and doing it twice in 3 days… well…  lets just say Im not getting around too quickly today.

dont forget, my products are on sale for this week only!  Its my birthday!  and also the freebies everyday on the DSO Blog!

Later!

ahhhhhhhh…..

Nothing like finishing up the “have to’s” by 9am I tell ya.  Here it is 9:10 and Im already OUT of the office and curled up in the recliner….

No treadmill today, Im still plotting my revenge from yesterdays attack. LOL…  No, instead I think I’ll lay around and be lazy for a while.  Its hazy and dark and cloudy outside.  As my childhood friend Christopher Robin would say, “Tut tut, it looks like rain….”  Oh stop, you know who Christopher Robin is.  If you dont shame on your parents, and google is your friend. LOL…

So yesterday ended up being a pretty crazy day.  Time kind of, LEFT.  I looked up at the clock and it was already an hour past when we usually eat supper.  I seriously have NO IDEA where yesterday went!  Did I fall into a mini-time warp?  My days tend to get a messed up when the hubby is off work….

At some point, he decided he wanted to go to Wal-Mart, so we did that.  And it was so late already that we just swung by the border on the way home.  So of course both the kids were “jacked up” after that.  They sure love to eat out….  I am starting to think I could throw dog dung in a McDonalds bag and they would enjoy it with a smile on their faces… lol…

After we ate, and my work was done I decided to do a little crafting.  How ever, after last night… I have decided ALL tutorials on the Internet should, by LAW, be required to include difficulty level labels. LOL.

My project of choice last night was GORGEOUS card on Melstampz blog.  Seems simple enough.

OY!

LOL…

After making my buggy body,

IMG_2169 and staring at her card for like a straight 20 minutes, I gave UP on trying to figure out where the fold was in her cardbase, and just winged it.  So mine is “inspired” by hers, but ummm… roflmao….

beadedbug-front

so my supplies were pretty simple.
White Cardstock
Patterned Paper
Solid Cardstock
Thread
Beads
Crafting Wire
Tape
glue
scissors
bone folder
Pencil
Gel Pen

IMG_2168

After I cut out my butterfly pattern, I stitched the solid and patterned paper together, and then attached my buggy body with both Thread, then reinforced with glue…

IMG_2171

then for the mat, she does the “scor-pal grid technique”.  I dont have a scor-pal, Im poor.  So I used my handy dandy ruler and a bone folder.  Then went over the score lines with my metallic silver pen.  Then,  Her card has over 100 knots in it. UMMM.. I have a life so…using my needle and thread I sewed on some silver beads instead, lol.

IMG_2172

Heres the back of the mat.  You can see where I sewed on the beads, then held the thread in place with tape so they wouldn’t loosen back up and fall off.

IMG_2174

Once that was done, it was just a matter of assembling all my pieces.

Here’s a better view from some different angles.

Anyway, 3 hours or so later… tadaaa.  LOL…

As aggravated as I was getting last night, I was still happy to be cutting away and creating. LOL.. Bring on the next project!  woohoo!

I love the layered beaded butterfly, so I made you a little digi version for your scrapbook pages.   It co-ordinates with KimBs new kit Spring Passion
