Career Coaching with Bunny Cates: A 1 hour, 1-on-1 Conversation with store owner and designer Bunny Cates (me!).

What’s this all about?

Well, when I started out in this business I would have given ANYTHING to have had someone to just sit down and talk to about the behind the scenes aspects of running "the business side" of digiscrap. No fluff, just honest answers to some pretty serious questions I had floating around in my head. "Do I need a business license?" "Do I charge taxes?" "How much do I charge for this!?" I didn’t have anyone, but using my management background as a guide, I’ve been figuring it out on my own for the last 5+ years. I get asked questions all the time about how to handle certain things, or the best way to deal with this-n-that and I know that the information I have to share can be motivational, informative, and useful. When I started my digital scrapbooking business, I didn’t have someone to talk to about the business, it was hard figuring it out on my own. I want to be that "someone" for you.

So many people get into this business thinking its going to be a quick buck, and then they have no one to talk to or help them thru it once they’re in it.  I want to change that for people!  Imagine how awesome the entire DigiScrap/Crafting’/Cottage Arts niche would be if designers actually "felt" like and DID know what they were doing.  Had a "guide" to push them in the right direction.  I can totally fill that void for people.

So, what I am offering here is pretty simple. Your questions, my answers, about the "business side" of Digital Scrapbooking. Anything you want to talk about. Whether you are a store owner or a digital designer, I am confident this session will benefit your business.

Coaching sessions are prepaid by appointment only, and held via Skype (World Wide) or Telephone (USA ONLY).

How to get scheduled:

Simple! Check Out with this item in your cart. Once payment is received, you will receive an email with a few questions for YOU to answer and you can also tell me what time is best for you. Once I get that back, we’ll have you scheduled, and on the day of your session we’ll either meet up on Skype or phone. Which ever works best for YOU.

Once you have your date set, I highly recommend sitting down and making notes of what you hope to talk about during our coaching session. These sessions aren’t me telling you what I think you should know, its me telling you what you WANT to know. So make notes to yourself, and have them handy during our Coaching session! If you don’t have any questions, it’s going to be a long hour!

Remember: You can ask me anything business related.

Please note this is not a "creative" seminar. I will not be teaching you how to design. This is a "BUSINESS" conversation. So you can ask things about: administration, taxes,workflow, customer service, etc etc

Hi folks!  2 posts in one week, can you believe it?! haha.  I swear I’m trying to get back on some kind of schedule, its just not working yet. hahaha.

Surprisingly enough everyone got up on time this morning, even though I couldn’t sleep last night, so played around down in the studio until about 2:30 and I got another page done.

Pretty simple page, I just duplicated the layer 4-5 times and played with blending modes until I got something I liked. Then I added one of my inky masks, the text, and whalllahhhh…

Sis’s gettin her craft on!

I haven’t showed off any of Sis’s creations lately, so these are a couple that are sitting on my desk right now.  I love that she is interested in something creative.  Drawing, crafting, “designing” clothes…. my kid is a whiz I tell ya!

I was thinking last night while I was cleaning down in the studio, and I can NOT believe it’s already been almost an entire YEAR Since Mel was here!  Even more, I can’t believe I haven’t really blogged about out trip to Graceland!  It’s on my TO DO list for September, I mean it!

Thinking about Memphis, also got me thinking about how freaking HOT it has been this summer.  So looking forward to days like this…

Days where the leaves cover the ground, and its just cool enough to make one want a jacket…

and no one gives a second glance if ya just decide to prop your feet up on the porch and have a little nap.

Yep, I’m looking forward to days like this…

Todays 5 Fact Friday,  post 5 Things you just CANT STAND right now!

1. “Gonna Do’s”…  Don’t tell me you’re GONNA DO something and then the next time I hear from you be an apology as to why you DIDN’T Do. 
2. “Whoa is me!”  As your friend, I feel like it is my place to tell you that everything that happens on this planet is NOT based around YOU.  In fact, MOST things that happen don’t even know YOU exist so chill! 
3. “But she said…”  How old are you?  Stop the drama, stop the gossip, and mostly stop the ignorance.  REALLY!
4. “Did you get…”  Please, please.  Don’t email me, and then email me again 5 minutes later to see if I got the other email.  Contrary to popular belief, I am not online 24/7.  In fact, most of the time I’m on the laptop upstairs and I don’t pull email on there.  It’s pretty annoying to go down and look at email and see 5 emails all asking if I am going to answer the first email, AND it’s only been an hour since the last time I looked at my email.  ANNOYING!
5. PDA’s.  This lately, is driving me insane.  Why do people feel the need to grope each other in public.  Sometimes its just GROSS, and most of the time its totally inappropriate.   Like when I’m standing in line with my 9 year old Daughter! grrr!

DSV is closing at the end of the month.  I am sad to see it go, but happy too.  I am really looking forward to having a little TIME back in my life.  It’s very time consuming to run TWO sites where EVERYTHING is quality checked.  It really leaves NO TIME for anything else!  I will miss the team, but luckily for me: KimB, Gaye, Caryn, and Kalo Designs all also sell with me @ DSO!  So we’ll all still be together.

Anyway.  Since we are closing I am having a sale on all my goods at DSV.  I didn’t want my products to be on sale at one site and not the other so my entire store at both DSO and DSV are on sale for 50% off!  At DSV so are KimBs, Gayes, and Stacy’s!  That’s a lot of product on sale for 50% off!

a little scrapping

I sat down to do some challenges and every time I would try to save my stupid computer would lock up.  THAT is what I get for trying to scrapbook on a computer that ISNT my graphics computer.   I finally DID get one redone today.  Of course, it doesn’t look as good as it did when I did it last night.  But this is what I got.  It is for the FONT CHALLNEGE at DSO.

I’m finding lately that I’m really liking the minimalist layouts.  Most of them don’t really even use scrapbook products, more just brushwork and alterations.  To me they make a bold statement and aren’t over cluttered and you don’t get distracted by all the “stuff”.  Of course they are missing journaling too, and I don’t really like THAT.  I found a happy medium for myself though.  This one I actually did as a 2 page 8.5×11 and the second page, which isn’t posted online, is ALL journaling.
