The easiest way to use my templates I think, is to just print out the instructions and  cut them out (Below).  Then trace them on the paper your wanting to cut out…

Then I layered the template on top of my cut out card stock, and used my bone folder to trace/score the FOLD LINES.

Then I folded in the glue strips on the templates out of the way, and had the proper sizing for the decorative paper.  again, just traced and trimmed.

adhered one side with double sided tape.

IMG_2404

Adhered the decorative paper, and since I had so much left over (I was using 12×12 sheets) I added another layer of solid cardstock.  This also helped to reinforce the “lid”

IMG_2405

I added my ribbon, and the white cardstock and stamped my sentiment and butterflies.  Then I made my “sweet” bead string and attached it with glue dots.  Not sure where I got those.

IMG_2406

I then tied my bow, and sewed it on with the button.  Once it was attached, I glued on some gemmy blingy thingy I had gotten in the bead dept at walmart!

IMG_2408

Here’s the underside, you can see the little bit of thread there.  I think the next one I make, I will line the ENTIRE inside with decorative paper…

and here’s the finished project.  The finished bag is 6 1/2 inches tall, 4 and a half inches across the front, and 1 and 3/4 inches thick.  Great for cookies, candies, etc….

Anyhoo, my template will be available as soon as my testers get back to me!  I wanted to make sure it was usable for beginners, paper people, and digi people too!

Have a great Sunday!

DSO AUG CARD SWAP

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

*phew*

I got my cards for this months swap done already!  See what happens when my internet goes out for the day? LOL…

My cards this month, were a true learning experience!  My first Stampings, I used my new watercolor pencils, a "Copic effect" with perm markers, distressing,  yea, basically…. the only thing I had done before was the cutting part, and the glue part. LOL…  I actually threw the first 2 I did away, I didn’t like em. LOL

a friend asked me if I would show her how I made them, so here’s a basic. how I did it.

Supplies I used:
stamps
ink
Derwett Watercolor Pencils
aqua pen
Sharpie Markers
Watercolor Paper (120 lb)
cardstock (paperbilities)
designer papers (generic)
glue
scissors
decorative scissors
bone folder
hole punch
ribbon
glitter

Stamp the image, trim.  Choose your colors from your watercolor pencils.  I chose really dark pink and red for the heart.  Sky blue, indigo, yellow, and orange for background and wings

IMG_1909

load the aquapen, by squeezing it a little to wetten the tip, and rub it on the watercolor pencil tip.  Now, with watercolor pencils, there are a bunch of ways to get the watercolor look.  This is just the way I perfer to do it, because it seems to allow more control of the depth of the paint…

IMG_1910

begin to fill in the stamp.  Be very careful to not over-saturate the black lines of the stamp.  I threw my first 2 cards out, because they bled pretty bad…

IMG_1911

I did the lighter base first, then let it dry before going back in and adding the darker red for some depth.

IMG_1912

IMG_1914

continue painting until your done…

IMG_1916

Since I was playing with technique, I "Copic"ed in my frame…
basically, I colored in with my midtone first, leaving some white areas, then hit with my lightest color for shading, and my darker color for depth…

IMG_1917

Finally I picked a paper I thought would look nice with my image..

IMG_1921

Lastly, just take your pieces and assemble.

I loved the doodley frame!  The one I used is a stamp from the Angel Company.

When I got finished with my card last night, it struck me how much I really liked the frame, so I fooled around and came up with some of my own…  so for you today…

My Buddy Bag reveals, a tut, and of course… a freebie.

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

So our Big Buddy bag technically is still up, it will be for only a few more hours.  But I couldn’t wait!  I had to do my reveal, it was making me crazy!  You’ll have to keep an eye on Kim’s Blog for her reveal.  Which I’m sure she’ll do once the bag is turned off so in her tomorrow post.

So this Big Buddy bag was a $60 value, for only $10.  That’s like 80 some odd % off.  Huge savings.  2 designers so lots of variety in the product, and ALL commercial use friendly!  HUGE SAVINGS!!!  Had we each done a bag, they would have been $8 a piece so you save even MORE by us doing one together!

For my part of the bag…

I was looking at some of the other bags, and it seems that most contain mostly overlays, or just re-colorable items.  So for my portion, I really wanted to do more than that and include some actual “tools” and not just some extractions.

The first item I included was:

1 set of overlays.

I was afraid to NOT include some overlays, since the people that buy a lot of bags, would probably be EXPECTING them.  I sure didn’t want to disappoint them.

So now you can make beautiful papers, I wanted you to be able to do something neat with them, so I included…

Professional Starts - 2 Layers Folds

These templates are in 2 layers.  The base, and the fold.  The fold is actually pre-shaded so you layer blend molds will give you some fantastic effects!

Then I included:

Professional Starts - Honor Me Collection

These decorated medal templates are great for kick starting your creations!  It includes the 2 pre-assembled medals you see above, PLUS the separated components so you can create your own!

Lastly, something that everyone always WISHES they had.  I know as a new designer, this set would have helped me sooo much!

Professional Starts - Basics Booster Pack

This Booster Pack contains 23 size appropriate design guides to kick start your kits!  No more wondering if it sized right, or wondering if your button holes look good.  Just let these design guides lead you to creating a perfect kit!

If you didn’t get your Big Buddy bag, and you are wishing you had…  RUN.. it will only be up a few more hours.  Once Kim’s individual products go up, the bag will come down, so HURRY!

As for the tut…
today was my day at ScrapYourArtOut.  So run on over and read my newest tutorial,  How to use textures in PSP.  There is also a FREEBIE there for you!
