LOL.. Boy are you IN FOR IT today!  I have so much I want to talk about!  Got your coffee?  Smokes? a lunch? hahahah!!!!

Skeletor

First, because I think its funny, You have GOT to see this. LOL…  A little backstory…

We bought our house last year.  My neighbor is a "cow".  She found out I was allergic to cats and next day magically had a cat.  (who btw, now has a bazillion mini-me’s!)

OK…

So, I’m convinced this cat is really a demon spawn.  WHY?  Because it KNOWS I’m allergic to it, and it taunts me.  It watches me.  It even sits in MY spot on the porch swing when no one is there!  How do I know this?  HAIR!!!!  <–PROOF!!!!

While I was watching for the school bus Friday, I noticed Skeletor.

Sitting there,

Waiting…

Watching me……

Plotting his attack.

PROOF!

IMG_2586

when he thought I wasn’t looking he began stalking me, and putting his attack plan into motion, slowly lurking, nay… SLINKING into position!

IMG_2588

"If Im still she wont see me"

IMG_2589

But you were wrong!  I saw you Skeletor, evil sneeze envoking torture beast!!!!  Yes, I saw you!!!

IMG_2590

My kids have named this vicious beast, Kimmie.   Kimmie?  That name is sooo misleading!  I can see past this cute fuzzy exterior into the true motives and nature of this beast!  His skeleton shaped mask is a dead give-a-way!  I’m watching you Torture Beast!

haahah!

ok on to important stuff….

Friends 4 Food Project

So I did a quick post yesterday about the Friends 4 Food Project.  Basically, we are trying to get people to donate to their local food banks, by having a little contest.   Its really easy to enter, and what the random winner will get, is a huge box of crafting goodies.  We already have like, 13 goodie box contributors, with MANY more "pledged".  Once their items arrive, I will add them to the prize box list.

For my part of the goodie box, I have donated my entire digital product line (not commercial use items though)  This includes current and retired products!  This is in DVD format, so the winner wont even have to DOWNLOAD them!  I’m also including a 12 x 12 Album (similar to this one), and one pack of 12 x 12 page protectors.

Please swing by the contest blog, tell your friends about it too!  WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERANCE!!!

Come on!  Sing a long!  LOL.

You know what’s funny?  I’m always the first one to get rared up for the holidays.  I mean, I was skipping along and shouting “BOO” on Sept 1st!  So is it any surprise I’m already humming Christmas Tunes?  Im sick of Halloween already, bring on the Jingle Bells!   I mean REALLY!  LOL

Anyway, I was googling around yesterday, and found a site called OrganizedChristmas.com

*clouds parted and Angels began to sing*  hehehe!

Holiday happiness at my fingertips!  I was so inspired by the articles, that I decided to get my own ho-ho on.

There are quite a few articles on organizers, so I wanted one.  Here’s a kind of walk thru for mine.  I didn’t have any Christmas paper to work with, so I decided to sew mine.

IMG_2523

IMG_2520

For supplies:
Material - Patterned
Material - Solid
Bone Folder
File Folder
Needle
Thread
Accessories like Ribbon and a button

IMG_2511

Using a bone folder, score your file folder.  The way I did mine was open it up ALL THE WAY.  Lay it flat so its TALL.  How ever deep you want your pockets, is how far to the right you are going to score.  Fold on your score line and then rotate the folder so its WIDE not tall.  Then I scored each side from top to bottom, about halfway from the edge.

IMG_2510

You will end up with something like this.

IMG_2512

then I cut my  material.  For my inside piece I cut a piece 18 x 8 inches.  Then I laid that on my file and trimmed to fit the tabs.

IMG_2513

For my outside, the piece I cut was 20 x 18.  I did not “shape” this one by trimming it because I wanted enough left to flap over the edges and hem it.

IMG_2514

I pinned the material all in place, and then went to my sewing machine thinking this would be done in like 5 minutes.  UMM.  My machine did NOT like sewing this at ALL, and kept breaking the stupid thread!  It would go about a half an inch then WHAM!   lol.

I really wanted to give up, I mean really.  Hand sewing thru 4 layers of material and a file folder was NOT going to be fun.  But, my Christmas ho-ho was SCREAMING with mo-jo and I could NOT just let it go!

So I grabbed my needle and thread and went to work!  I started sewing just before House came on.  Sewed thru House.  Sewed through Fringe.  Sewed thru 2 shows about games on the sci-fi channel.  Sewed thru a crappy scary movie on Sci-fi channel about killer snake headed fish with teeth that could walk on land.  Uh…. oooooo-kkkkkaaaaayyyyyy…. LOL…

I FINALLY finished sewing around 1-ish I think!

IMG_2515 IMG_2516

I added some ribbon, held on with a big button to use as a TIE to keep it closed.

IMG_2518

Then I printed some cute little lists I found on OrganizedChristmas.com  and FINALLY got to use my Crop-a-Dile!  woohoo!

IMG_2519

and the finished project….

Fire in the hole!!! well, eggs anyway…

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

lol

I was talking to Lynn this morning and explaining what Eggs in the Hole are…

So for your mouthwatering pleasure, I give you my Grans most favorite breakfast…
pssstttt… KIDS LOVE THIS!!!

EGGS IN THE HOLE

holeeggs-done

Ingredients:
Eggs
Bread
Butter
cinnamon and sugar (optional)
salt and pepper (optional)

holeeggsingred

First step is cut out your holes, you can use a glass, a cookie cutter, your fingers, whatever!

holeeggsingredients

now I hate to waste ANYTHING so I make cinnamon toast out of the cut-outs.  Waste not want not!
A smidge of butter, sugar and cinnamon

cinnatoast

toss in the toaster or oven

while they toast…

put a little butter in your skillet, and toss in your bread

holeeggs-butteredup

*I always want some butter on my spatula too, so the egg dont stick to the spatula when you go to flip!

once your butter starts melting put in your eggs

holeeggs-cooking

salt and pepper as desired.  Once the eggs turn white, you can flip them and cook the other side.  I don’t like runny eggs so I cook mine bit long, but when your eggs get to your preference your done.

Makin it Day 3… the tiles

bsc-coasters2

For your supplies you will need:

Tiles
printed paper of choice
stamp
inks
heat tool
adhesive
modpodge
craft knife
sandpaper
bone folder
paint thinner (optional)
tilesupplies

Now the best tiles, I hear are the porous tumbled tiles.  I did not buy those, I bought the cheapest tiles Lowes had, as I wanted to experiment, and they happened to be polished.

Step one is to UNPOLISH them. LOL… I wiped mine down with paint thinner, then used the rough sandpaper to roughen up the surface a little to give the adhesive something to stick to.

I had printed my paper the same size as my tile.  4.25 x 4.25.  For my papers I chose one from Alma Townsend’s Summer Skies.

I sponged down the back of my paper with mod podge, and sprayed Craft Bond on my tile.  Then stuck the two together.  Work fast, because it becomes tacky really fast!  Then I mod podged the top.  I heated it with my heat tool, and then let it set for a few hours to "make sure" it was dry.

I stamped my Dreams du Jour (© Stampin’ Up!) with Baja Breeze ink (© Stampin’ Up!).  I used Distress ink to age up the edges, hit it with the heat tool, and mod podged AGAIN.  Let dry.

Once dry, I attacked it with a FINE sanding block to get the extra jiblets (hangover) of paper off, and this helped "age" it.

Then I took it outside and sprayed with lacquer and let it dry.

I actually think Im going to put another coat on too, becuase I can still feel the paper edge  on my coasters, and I want them COMPLETELY smooth.
